Lowry briefly reached two-under again after a successful up-and-down from a greenside bunker on the par-five third. But here's where it gets controversial...did he get a bit complacent? He immediately surrendered that stroke with a three-putt on the relatively short fourth hole. Then came the fifth hole, a 450-yard par-four, and a truly bizarre situation. A wild tee shot sent his ball careening down the cart path, leaving him with an unconventional shot from less than 100 yards. He did manage to bounce back with birdies at the par-five third and the sixth (the latter after a stunning approach to gimme range), bringing him back to even par. But an errant tee shot on the short seventh cost him another dropped stroke, and he failed to capitalize on a birdie opportunity at the ninth, sending a six-foot putt past the hole.
