The Andhra Pradesh government has come under scrutiny for its handling of the DSC-2025 teacher recruitment process, with allegations of unfair practices surrounding the quota for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). The school education commissioner, Tamim Ansaria, has stepped forward to clarify the situation, emphasizing the transparency and adherence to rules in the selection process.
In a recent statement, Ansaria addressed specific claims, highlighting the importance of merit-based selection. She explained that the recruitment followed the provisions of GO Ms No. 77 dated August 2, 2023, which outlines the horizontal reservation for PwBD candidates within their respective community rosters. This policy ensures that PwBD candidates are given a fair chance in the recruitment process.
One of the key points of contention was the displacement of an EWS (Economically Weaker Section) candidate, Devaguptapu Santoshi Parvathi, who secured Rank 92 for PGT (English) in Zone-I. Ansaria clarified that Parvathi was not displaced by another candidate but rather that one of the two EWS vacancies was filled on general merit, while the other was allocated to a visually impaired PwBD candidate under the horizontal reservation policy.
Similarly, VVV Bhaskar Reddy, an EWS candidate who secured Rank 68 for school assistant (English) in Kadapa district, missed selection due to the final EWS vacancy being filled by a hearing-impaired PwBD candidate, adhering to the reservation rules. These examples demonstrate the government's commitment to ensuring that PwBD candidates receive their rightful opportunities.
The DSC-2025 recruitment drive was an extensive process, aiming to fill 16,347 teacher posts. A total of 3,36,300 candidates appeared for the examination, with 5,77,675 applications submitted. The computer-based test was conducted across 154 centers over 24 days in 89 sessions, showcasing the government's dedication to a fair and organized selection process.
Despite the transparency, the government acknowledges the challenges faced during the recruitment. Ansaria mentioned that officials addressed 32,695 queries and 1,135 grievances, indicating a proactive approach to resolving issues. Additionally, the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) vice-chairperson, Bharani, refuted allegations regarding the sports quota, emphasizing the verification of sports certificates through recognized associations.
